Earth Photo 2026

I’m pleased to share that Hotel Bedding has been selected for the Earth Photo 2026 exhibition programme and national tour.

Earth Photo is an international exhibition founded by the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) and Forestry England, bringing together photographers and filmmakers whose work explores the relationship between people, place, and the environment. Each year, the selected works are shown at the Royal Geographical Society in London before touring a range of venues across the UK.

Hotel Bedding will be exhibited at the Royal Geographical Society in London from 26 June to 24 July 2026, as part of a curated display featuring all shortlisted artists. The exhibition brings together a wide range of perspectives on landscape, environment, and change, and it’s always interesting to see how different practices sit alongside one another in that context.

The Earth Photo winners will be announced at a private view on 2 July 2026, hosted by naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham, who will also deliver the keynote address.

Following its presentation in London, the exhibition will tour nationally, with Hotel Bedding travelling as part of the wider Earth Photo 2026 programme to venues including Waddesdon Manor, the Sidney Nolan Trust, Chester Zoo, and a number of National Trust properties and regional galleries.

The full tour continues through to early 2027, giving the work an extended life in a variety of very different settings – each one shifting how the work is seen and experienced.

It’s always interesting to see how a body of work changes in conversation with different spaces and audiences, and I’m looking forward to seeing how Hotel Bedding evolves as it moves through the tour.

From the outside, the villa sits beside a large church, making it a striking landmark. Inside, decay mingles with elegance: crumbling interiors and remnants like frescoed walls and vintage furniture hint at the grandeur it once held. Even as time and nature slowly take their toll, you can still imagine how impressive it must have been in its prime.
