Delivery, Framing & Aftercare Guide for Museum size artworks
To ensure the safe transport, handling, and long-term care of your artwork, please review the following information.
Delivery Options
- Standard Delivery – Our default shipping method is via DHL or a similar courier service. This service includes delivery to your address but does not include in-room placement or unpacking. The recipient is responsible for moving the crate to the desired location at the address, uncrating and positioning the artwork.
- Specialist Art Shipping – If you require delivery to a specific room with unpacking included, we can arrange for a dedicated art shipper to handle this process. If this is your preferred option, please let us know, and we will provide a quote.
Insurance & Transit Damage
- Your artwork is insured for the price of production during transit.
- If you notice any damage to the crate upon arrival:
- Do not attempt to unpack the item, as you may injure yourself.
- Take clear photographs of the damage.
- Contact Gina immediately via email for further instructions.
Framing Options
Your artwork is available in the following high-quality frame finishes:
- White, Black or Walnut
Additionally, you can choose from three different glass options:
- Standard (UV 70%) – Provides good protection from UV light.
- Low Reflection (UV 70%) – Reduces glare while maintaining UV protection.
- Museum Glass (UV 99%) – Offers the highest level of UV protection and low reflection.
If you are away for long periods or want to minimise the risk of rippling, you may consider spray mounting the image. This is a permanent solution and will prevent future reframing. Please note that spray mounting is not considered archival framing and may have an impact on the value of your artwork.
Handling Your Artwork
- Always pick up the frame by the sides, not from the top, to avoid bowing or damaging the frame.
- If uncrating yourself, handle the artwork with clean hands or gloves to prevent smudges or damage.
- Your Certificate of Authenticity is included on the back of the framed artwork.
Installation & Display Considerations
To preserve the integrity of your artwork, consider the following:
- Lighting: Avoid placing the artwork in direct sunlight or under intense artificial lighting, as prolonged exposure can cause fading.
- Temperature & Humidity: Display the artwork in environments with stable temperatures (16-22°C / 60-72°F) and relative humidity levels between 35-55% to prevent paper deterioration, mould growth, or brittleness.
- Placement: Keep the artwork away from areas prone to moisture and avoid placing it near heat sources such as radiators or fireplaces.
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Dusting: Regularly dust the frame using a soft, dry cloth.
- Avoid Chemicals: Do not use water, cleaning solutions, or chemicals on the artwork or frame, as they can cause irreversible damage.
